Along with our ever-changing economy, airlines have had to make frequent changes to fees to ease the impact on the way they do business. Below are recent press releases and fee charts associated to the airlines and the changes they have mandated, as well as the dates they are in effect.
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
Silverjet ceases operations as of May 30th, 2008
The airline, which has only been in operation since last year, is the latest to fall victim to soaring jet fuel prices.
 
American Airline and United Airline ticketing time changes
Both United Airlines and American Airlines introduced new ticketing restrictions on refundable fares within the United States and Canada. The new guidelines are:
  • All First Class, Business Class and Full Fare Coach tickets must be issued 3 days prior to travel or 1 day after the reservation is made, whichever is later.
  • All other refundable fare type tickets must be issued within 24 hours of making the reservation
These rules vary from reservation to reservation. Your Montrose Travel dedicated agent can provide you with the details of ticketing time limits based on your travel needs and your specific travel request.
 
Hawaiian Airlines administers new fee
As of June 10th, 2008, Hawaiian Airlines updated current refund rules for all domestic and international travel. For fully refundable fares, Hawaiian Air will process with an administrative service fee of $100 for travel between points in the Continental USA between the Continental USA and Hawaii and between the Continental USA/Hawaii and South Pacific/International points, administrative fee of $25 for travel wholly within the State of Hawaii if reservations are cancelled prior to scheduled departure. Failure to cancel confirmed reservations prior to travel (no shows) will result in ZERO value of your ticket.
 
Stranded at the airport? Don't forget Rule 240
Rule 240, a holdover from the days prior to airline deregulation, guarantees certain passenger rights in the event of flight delays or cancellations. But does it apply to your situation?
